RGB in paint refers to the amount of red, green, and blue light emitting properties for the paint mixture for any given mix. Paints are a mixture of various colors that provide a final color to suit the requirements of the builder/painter, known as a paint code. These mixtures are also presented as color codes for painting manufacturers and suppliers. Paint colors are formed through subtractive mixing, where pigments absorb (subtract) certain wavelengths of light and reflect others.

RGB is a Color Model for Light
Various intensities of these mixtures(different paints and mix-ins) are provided to achieve the final paint color mixture balance. Technically speaking, RGB is a color model for light and not paint, however, this is the indicative provision of various levels of color that make up various manufacturer’s paint codes and products, so it might be easier to think of it as a code amalgamation utilized to conceive final colors.

An RGB color code is indicated as a series of numbers, which in some scenarios, such as on your computer, can be computed as an RGBA or HEX color code. Frequently within a manufacturer’s paint code listing the HEX or RGB color codes will be provided. The A in the RGBA offers features of transparency for color codes.
Examples - White (RGB: 255, 255, 255) or Black (HEX: #000000)
Manufacturer's Color Names/Charts
Manufacturers will provide color names, indicating RGB color mixtures for the final color presented and a color number. This formulation can ease in color matching with existing painted products or samples. Ideally though, the original paint code from the project specifications or drawing packages is best, if the paint code is still produced by the manufacturer. Ideally, the manufacturer can still produce paint codes which may or may not have been discontinued.
An RGB color code can be provided from one manufacturer to another manufacturer for color code matching too.
As a typical consumer, you do not have to worry much about RGB color codes. Just trust the services of a professional Winnipeg painter for all your whole home painting, interior and exterior, requirements, for a high grade finish everytime.
